The Dallas Cowboys entered the NFL playoffs with the second-best record in the NFC and opened as 7.5-point favorites over the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Round.
Well, so much for that. The Packers jumped out to a 27-0 lead and never really looked back en route to a 48-32 victory. It was the first time in NFL history that a No. 7 seed had beaten a No. 2 seed. All in a day’s work.
That it came on Dallas’ home turf only adds insult to injury. Will it be enough for Jerry Jones to pull the trigger and dump head coach Mike McCarthy after three winning seasons in four years? The Cowboys haven’t advanced beyond the Divisional Round since winning Super Bowl XXX in 1995, so maybe Jerry will turn to someone who knows a thing or two about winning the big one.

The NBA announced Sunday that the salary cap is set at $140.588 million for the 2024-25 season. The league said the Tax Level will be $170.814 million. Both figures go into effect at 12:01 a.m. ET on Monday. Teams are allowed to begin negotiations with free agents at 6 p.m. ET on Sunday. Signings can become official Saturday. This morning before Browns practice, safety Calvin Pryor and wide receiver Ricardo Louis got into a fight, according to reports from Ian Rapoport and Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot. The Browns wouldn’t confirm that a fight had taken place, but Pryor didn’t show up at practice and hours later, the team formally cut him. The Browns traded linebacker Demario Davis to the Jets for Pryor (who, coincidentally, was in New York when IK Enemkpali punched out Geno Smith in 2015) earlier this summer, and he was projected to be the backup safety behind Jabrill Peppers.
